Add Adobe Distiller As Printer Windows 7
Hi:
Install the AdobePS printer driver to create PostScript and printer files in Windows applications. 'Acrobat Distiller' for Adist5.ppd, or 'Adobe PDF 7.0' for. To start Acrobat Distiller (Windows). Command with the Adobe PDF printer to convert a file to PostScript. The Print dialog boxes can vary from application to.
I have a 1+ year old Win10 installation that works fine. As near as I can tell, this problem also existed in Win7. I use a number of font managers, and a typical use for one of these is to print font exemplars. So, you add several fonts to a folder, in the font manager, then print-to-PDF, and voila!, you have font exemplars to send to a client. Except--for whatever reason, when I try to do this, even to the point of trying to print a font from within the Control Panel-->Fonts, any number of the fonts get corrupted. I am NOT talking about the Graffiti issue that's been problematic.
- In Windows 7 you'll need Acrobat 9.2 (or better) Standard, Pro, or Pro Extended if you need the Adobe Printer. It will be installed by these applications. Acrobat Reader (any version) does not provide it.
- Or no Adobe PDF printer appears (Acrobat 6.0-7.0 or Acrobat 3D on Windows XP and 2000). See 'Add a new user to the computer' in Windows Help. Of Windows do not.
- Adobe pdf printer does not work with Windows 10 Hi, right after I upgraded to Windows 10, the Adobe pdf printer (installed by Acrobat) stopped working. When print, I can still select Adobe pdf printer, and choose where to save the pdf file, but the printer queue would show 0 page printing, and sometimes a message says no page selected.
- Apr 01, 2010 Then re-registered the program. Now everthing is working fine, The Acrobat Distiller Printer is now shown in Printers and Faxes Control Panel. I did some file conversions to PDF and the distiller is now listed as a printer source in the Print Menu of the file I am converting. Thank for your help.
No matter what I do--try to print font exemplars, in a set, from one of the font managers, or, try to print a font directly from the CP--the file seems to become corrupted between the font file, Acrobat Distiller, and the printer. If you open the resulting PDF, and view the fonts panel, you can see that the font is never embedded. (n.b.: I should add, this doesn't happen with all fonts, but it happens 75-80% of the time.) It doesn't matter if the font is installed, or not. It doesn't matter if I'm going through the font manager, or not. (the font managers I use the most are Suitcase Fusion, from Extensis, and High-Logic's Main Type, both reputed, respected font managers). Nor does it help, if I switch from 'print to adobe PDF' to 'print to MS PDF.' Same thing happens.
It's clear that as I said, something, from the font files themselves, to the interface/font manager, if present, to Distiller (or whatever Windows PDF handler is being used) to the PDF is being waylaid. I've searched the Net, and found precisely zero references to this. When I discussed this with Extensis, they are easily able to recreate it on their Win10 box, and given taht it also happens with NO Adobe product or Font manager in the midst, it's obviously a Windows problem. I believe, as I said, that this may go back to Win7.
Does anyone have any ideas, as to how to fix this? I'm an experienced user of fonts, and I've checked and gone through all the usual steps. I picked 'Devices and Drivers' because that seemed to be the closest area to the topic, but Mods, feel free to move this post if it's in an inappropriate area.

1 Installing Settings (Job Options) Files for Use with Acrobat Distiller, Adobe Printer, or PDFMaker (For Windows) Introduction This document describes how to install Adobe Acrobat settings (job options) files under Windows. To install the appropriate settings files for Acrobat 4, Acrobat 5, Acrobat 6, or Acrobat 7 first read the General section below. Next, follow the instructions in the section corresponding to the version of Acrobat used. If using the Adobe Printer or PDFMaker it is necessary to first install the appropriate settings in Distiller. Please follow the instructions above. Next follow the instructions in the section corresponding to Adobe Printer or PDFMaker. General If not already installed, Acrobat Distiller must be on the local C: drive before following the instructions below. If using Acrobat Distiller to create PDF files from within a program, for example Microsoft Word, you must first install the Distiller settings as described above. After doing this please see the section Adobe Distiller as the Printer or PDFMaker. If the instructions below do not work, please see the section Non-Standard Installation and Troubleshooting. Acrobat Distiller as the Printer To create PDF files using Acrobat Distiller as the printer do the following: 1) In the Printer dialog box choose Acrobat Distiller or Adobe PDF. Which choice appears depends on the version of Acrobat installed. 2) Click on Properties. 3) Click on the Adobe PDF Settings tab. 4) In the General box select IEEE PDF for AcrobatX-11Nov05 where X is the version of Acrobat Distiller used. If Acrobat 4 is used X is 4. If Acrobat 5 is used X is 5. If Acrobat 6 is used X is 6. For Acrobat 7 select IEEE PDF for Acrobat7-29Nov05. 5) While still on the Adobe PDF Settings tab select the following: View Results in Acrobat (Optional selection). Add Document Information (Recommended selection when available). Prompt for PDF filename (Optional selection). Ask to replace existing PDF file (Required selection). Do not check (select) any of the other options on this tab. Page - 2 -
3 PDFMaker To create PDF files using PDFMaker do the following: 1) On the menu bar choose Adobe PDF. If this option is not displayed then PDFMaker is not available or must be reinstalled from the Acrobat disk. 2) Choose Change Conversion Settings. 3) Under PDFMaker Settings choose the Conversion Settings IEEE PDF for AcrobatX- 11Nov05 where X is the version of Acrobat Distiller used. If Acrobat 4 is used X is 4. If Acrobat 5 is used X is 5. If Acrobat 6 is used X is 6. For Acrobat 7 select IEEE PDF for Acrobat7-29Nov05. 4) Make the changes shown in the screens below so the files are IEEE Xplore compatible. These screen captures are from Acrobat 7.
